About PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
The Indian government approved the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana launch date, on February 29, 2024. It aims to increase the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower households to generate electricity.
The scheme is run by the National Programme Implementation Agency (NPIA) at the national level and the State Implementation Agencies (SIAs) at the state level.
The Distribution Utility or Power/Energy Departments serve as the State Implementation Agencies (SIA) at the State/UT level.
They set up numerous facilitative measures to promote rooftop solar in their respective areas like availability of net meters, commissioning of installations, vendor registration and management, timely inspection, etc.
The scheme provides a subsidy of 60 percent of the solar unit cost for systems of up to 2kW capacity and 40 percent of extra system cost between 2 to 3kW capacity.
Thus, currently, the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana subsidy amount are of Rs. 30,000 for a 1kW system, Rs. 60,000 for 2kW, and Rs. 78,000 for 3kW or higher.

After net meter installation and inspection from DISCOM, the commissioning certificate from the portal will be generated.
Step 6:
Once you receive the commissioning report, submit your bank account details and a canceled cheque via the portal. You will receive the subsidy to your account within 30 working days.
